What he led. Origination and structuring of the full facility at First National Bank Zambia, as part of a three deal, USD 44M agricultural programme.

Result

Procurement from over 15,000 smallholder farmers, strengthening national agricultural supply chains and putting smallholder production at the centre of a commercial transaction.

USD 13M

Irrigation and solar energy, climate resilient production finance

The mandate. Finance a farming entity to invest in irrigation and solar energy, enhancing sustainable production and reducing reliance on grid electricity.

What he led. Structuring of a combined irrigation and solar facility built on a climate resilient approach, aligning commercial returns with long term production security.

Result

A closed, funded climate smart transaction. Improved production resilience for the farming entity and a replicable model for sustainable agriculture finance.

USD 10M

DFC guarantee, international capital for Zambian SMEs

The mandate. Expand credit for SMEs advancing food security and climate solutions in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and clean cooking.

What he led. Submitted and completed Absa's application for the DFC guarantee. He was also principal contact on the USAID EDGE Project and technical lead on the national electronic voucher programme with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Result

A USD 10M DFC backed guarantee facility expanding SME access to finance, and a direct working relationship with DFC and USAID at programme level.

Agriculture insurance

USD 50K to USD 5M

A unit built from zero

As Head Agriculture Underwriter at African Grey, he set up the agriculture unit and grew premium from USD 50,000 to USD 5,000,000 in 2014, a one hundred times scale up. He developed weather index and multi peril crop products for commercial farms and smallholder linked schemes.

Together, these facilities form a single USD 44M programme. One banker, one strategy, and a value chain financed from the smallholder field to the processing plant.
